J-Ackles.com started life in June 2006, as Jensen Ackles
Experience - however, the process of of the site coming about had actually
been two years in the making! From the moment I caught Jensen as Ben in
Dark Angel, I was hooked in, so you can imagine my excitement when Jensen
became a season regular as Alec, in season two. Living in Britain, I didn't
get to see Jensen on Days of Our Lives but have followed his career from
Dark Angel onward.
Through Dark Angel, I was introduced to two stars whom to this day, I
remain huge fans of - of course, one is Jensen Ackles - and the other,
Jessica Alba. While Jess light up the silver screen, starring in Hollywood
blockbusters, things remained quiet on the Ackles front until 2004. At
the time of Dark Angel, I wasn't much of an Internet user - in fact, it
wasn't until the show was over that I began using the Internet on a regular
basis. By 2004, I had gotten into web design and dabbled in various sites.
It was this year, that Jensen joined the cast of another of my favourite
shows - Smallville - as the troubled socialite, Jason Teague. Over two
years after I first saw him in Dark Angel, Jensen still had it! Adding
to my already existing Tom Welling obsession, it was my utter pleasure
to watch both stars every week in the same show, hehe! In October 2004,
I decided to create a Jensen fansite as there weren't many aside from
one which by now, I was obsessed with and visited on a daily basis. I
had settled on the domain name I wanted to purchase, as this was pre-Supernatural
the domain name, "jensen-ackles.org" was free although later
with the success of Supernatural, anything and everything Jensen was registered.
Unfortunately, I simply became too busy to pursue another site but remained
a fan, watching Smallville pondering what could have been...
As the season came to an end with a tumultuous cliff hanger, it begged
the question - what was next for Jensen? Believe it or not, until Supernatural
aired on television, I had no idea Jensen was in it! By the time it did
air and I had found out what it was, again, I was enthralled by Jensen's
presence and yet another charming, enigmatic character in Dean! Alas,
the Ackles finally had a starring role and not a supprting one, as I watched
throughout the entire first season - again, I pondered whether to embark
on a site or not.
Finally in mid-2006, with a push from some of my friends, I decided to
open a site titled Jensen Ackles Experience. The site was online for 6
months and received a good few amount of visitors, however in September
2006 I had started university (for the third time!) and began neglecting
the site. In the end, I felt the only option was to close it - a painful
decision! I remained a fan of Jensen and when the time was right, in 2007,
I decided to try again. But, by this time, my domain name j-ackles.org
had expired.
I began prepping for a new site, purchasing a new domain name, seeking
new hosting etc. I had just given birth to my little boy and had plenty
of time on my hands after leaving university (plenty of sleepless nights
too!) so I began working on the site and here we are! J-Ackles.com opened
it's doors in July 2007.
