Posted in Media Updates, Supernatural, TV alerts!

Next week’s episode of Supernatural is the mid-season finale, meaning it will be the last new episode for about two months. Therefore, it’s safe to assume we won’t be watching a lot of silly, pointless comedy. Instead, Supernatural finally gets back to the Apocalypse and Lucifer.

In this video clip from the episode, “Abandon All Hope,” Sam and Dean meet Crowley, the demon Bela gave the Colt to.

Will Sam and Dean shoot Lucifer with the Colt?

  • No, they'll never even fire it at him (33%, 1 Votes)
  • Yes, but Lucifer will stop the bullet (33%, 1 Votes)
  • Yes, and it won't kill him (34%, 1 Votes)

Is Supernatural Jumping the Shark?

November 14th, 2009 2 Comments »
Posted in Recent News, Supernatural

Last night’s episode of Supernatural ended with prophet and Supernatural book series author Chuck telling his fans “It’s not Jumping the Shark if you never come back down.” At first I really wanted to think this was a joke, but the more I think about it, the more I realize it’s not. Supernatural really is Jumping the Shark.

For weeks I’ve been trying to defend and rationalize Supernatural’s recent increase in comedy. Cas visited a whorehouse. Future Cas smoked pot. Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, Paris Hilton, the Tooth Fairy and the Incredible Hulk have all turned up. Supernatural parodied CSI and Grey’s Anatomy. And finally, Sam and Dean attended a Supernatural fan convention. A while ago I wrote an article defending the show’s use of comedy. I would now like to retract that statement.

The sad truth is that Supernatural is a different show, one easily distracted by funny ideas and self-aware storylines. It’s easy to pinpoint the moment of lift-off, the episode where Supernatural began its extended shark-jumping trip: “The Monster at the End of This Book.”

5 Things I Want to See in the ‘Supernatural’ Fan Convention

November 12th, 2009 4 Comments »
Posted in Supernatural, TV alerts!

If last week’s TV parodies and shocking angel revelations on Supernatural weren’t wild enough, the writers have upped the ante on breaking the fourth wall this week. In “The Real Ghostbusters,” Thursday at 9pm, Supernatural super fan Becky tricks Sam and Dean into attending a Supernatural fan convention. Let the inside jokes begin.

We got brief glimpses into the world of the Supernatural book series on the show in “The Monster at the End of This Book” and “Sympathy for the Devil,” but now Supernatural is diving head first into fandom. What can we expect to see, and more importantly, what do we want to see?

#1 Lots of the Fat Dean LARPer

Jensen Ackles and his longtime girlfriend Danneel Harris are engaged, her rep confirms exclusively to JustJared.com.

The 31-year-old Supernatural actor and 30-year-old One Tree Hill actress have been dating for about three years but have been friends for nearly a decade. The couple, who are longtime members of the WB/CW family, co-starred in the 2007 romantic comedy Ten Inch Hero.

Danneel showed off her beautiful engagement ring on Saturday at the Breeders’ Cup in Los Angeles.

Supernatural: The Meaning of Dean’s Question

November 7th, 2009 Comments Off
Posted in Recent News, Supernatural

While the revelation that the Trickster is really an angel was a big shock on Supernatural, I was just as mesmerized but a much smaller moment earlier in the episode. When Sam and Dean were trapped in the Japanese game show the host asked Dean “Would your Mother and Father still be alive if your brother was never born?”

It’s a disturbing question because, in many ways, the birth of Sam helped start Azazel’s master plan to open the gate to Hell, free Lilith and get the ball rolling to free Lucifer. Dean’s answer in Japanese was “Yes,” which was the correct answer, but is it really?

The argument against it is fairly easy to make. The Trickster’s entire objective with his TV parody game was to get Sam and Dean to accept their roles and turn against one another. Sam’s question was about the time he abandoned his brother, so Dean’s question was also about trying to force a wedge between the brothers.
