The latest episode of Supernatural featured meta jokes on top of meta jokes, so it stands to reason that the title of the episode might also include some hidden secrets. Fans were quick to notice that The Monster at the End of This Book is actually the title of a Sesame Street children’s book featuring Grover. Could this harmless piece of kiddie lit hold the secret to the entire Supernatural mystery?

In the book, which is itself a piece of meta fiction, Grover talks directly to the person reading the book, warning them about the monster at the end and urging the reader not to continue reading. It’s a rather adult concept, but if you reach the end, you get a surprise.

The Fiery Demonic Passion of Sam and Lilith

The best part of last night’s Supernatural wasn’t when they cried, it was the entire episode. I must not be a real fan, because I’m not complaining a lot. In “The Monster at the End of This Book,” Supernatural took a surreal turn down the meta-highway by becoming the single most self-referential episode of television I’ve ever seen.

Supernatural talked about the show’s best and worst episodes, the underground cult following it has, it’s sexy doctor competition, the Sam vs. Dean debate and even slash fiction. The conversation between Sam and Dean about what slash is may have been the funniest thing Supernatural has ever done. But in the midst of all of this brilliant meta-comedy, the drama and the show’s season-long storyline moved into a dark, dark place.

All the Sam Girls out there finally got some love as he was front and center for this episode. His conversation with Chuck simply and effectively explained everything: the prophet of the Lord writing the Supernatural books didn’t want to include Sam’s blood drinking storyline because it might make him too unsympathetic. This might be an easy copout for the writers, but it does make sense.

That Jensen is rumored to be in “Resident Evil 4” as a guy called Leon S Kennedy?

The movie is in pre-production and already got a release date for 2010.

Yep, Supernatural‘s superfine demon-fighting duo, Sam and Dean Winchester, now have to fight each other for the title of baddest dude on TV.

So, which one is TV’s real alpha male? It’s up to you to decide, and you have until Thursday.

That Jensen has never made an appearance on 7th Heaven?

He confirmed that recently at the L.A. con after he was asked about it from someone in the audience.

That LeAnn Rimes and Jessica Simpson seemed to put the past behind them on the set of their promo ad for the Academy of Country Music Awards?

The two country singers crossed paths years ago, when Simpson was dating Days of Our Lives star Jensen Ackles until he apparently cheated on her with Rimes. (Simpson mentioned that it was her “first heartbreak” on a 2004 episode of her reality show, Newlyweds.)
