Next week’s Supernatural episode brings back Castiel, Anna and one very cool angel power: time travel. Unlike season 4’s “In the Beginning,” this time both Sam and Dean are traveling back in time to protect Mary and John from an assassination plot to prevent the boys from ever being born.
After coming back from the long winter break, Supernatural has been stuck in stand alone episodes about a psychiatric hospital and body swapping, so it’s good to see the show getting back to the on-going mythology.
It also means we’ll get to see young John and young Mary again, a few years after the events of “In the Beginning.” Check out these two new clips featuring the boys transporting back in time and meeting their young parents.
A merely OK episode as Sam gets his own FREAKY FRIDAY.
“Either you start talking or I start water boarding.” – Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) on SUPERNATURAL “Swap Meat”
Well that was not you’re A-typical SUPERNATURAL episode. Not by a long shot.
The funniest part of “Swap Meat” was the foreboding music that played throughout the episode. Totally out of place given the circumstances of the episode and the hilarious situations that Sam (Jared Padaleki) was placed in – a FREAKY FRIDAY body swap.
But I guess given the nefarious intentions of some of the young kid’s friends in the episode, I guess a case could be made for the droning music. Still, I found it funny that it was playing when Sam was at school as the boy or when the boy (as Sam) was totally out of character for Sam and saying a number of crazy stuff that he’d never say.
according to Kristen at Titan Publishing Group the official Supernatural Magazine has a sensational prize up for grabs for one lucky winner – two gold tickets to the official Supernatural Convention – SALUTE TO SUPERNATURAL on March 26-28 in Los Angeles.
The now sold-out Gold Ticket entitles holders to a host of sensational perks, including complimentary in-person autographs with guests and exclusive access to a Saturday night cocktail party.
Guests at SALUTE TO SUPERNATURAL will include: Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester), Misha Colins (Castiel), Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer), Jake Abel (Adam Milligan), Travis Wester (Harry Spangler), AJ Buckley (Ed Zeddmore), and Richard Speight, Jr (Trickster).
Next week’s Supernatural is sure to be full of comedy as Sam swaps bodies with a nerdy teenage boy. Since Dean is always mocking his little brother for being a nerd, I’m guessing it will take a while for him to catch on.
The CW has released a clip from the episode, titled “Swap Meat,” that should give fans a pretty good taste of what’s to come.
The first thing I notice is that Supernatural is letting Sam play his brain trapped in the boy’s body while guest star Colton James is playing Sam. Body swap movies and TV shows are all different in terms of how they show us who does what. Personally, I think it would be funnier to see Jared Padalecki as the nerdy boy trapped in Sam’s body, but I guess that won’t be as big a part of it as I’d hoped.
On the bright side, we already have a frontrunner for favorite line of next week’s episode: “One leather jacket, one Sasquatch.” Check out the clip:
A demon is feasting on mental patients and the Winchester brothers check themselves in.
Something is feeding on crazies at a mental facility and the Winchester brothers go in to investigate on the latest episode of SUPERNATURAL, entitled “Sam, Interrupted.”
And it was a straight stand-alone episode pretty much outside the mythology of the series that we have seen so far this season with the rise of Lucifer and hell on Earth coming.
Now, we did get a good bit of revelations about why Sam (Jared Padalecki) is just so damn angry all the time and he comes to the realization that it is his fault, he has been blaming everyone and everything for his own issues – the demon blood, Ruby, the apocalypse, name it. Instead, he should be blaming himself for having gotten himself into this situation and what’s happening everywhere.
That came at the end and it is almost too bad that they didn’t focus on the mythology a bit more in the first episodes since November since while we didn’t forget, so much has happened it would be nice to see a little progression of the series.
