| ‘Supernatural’ Interview: Jensen Ackles at the 100th Episode Party |
It’s rather remarkable how Jensen Ackles can stay in such high spirits. AS Dean Winchester, he’s been in nearly every scene of every episode of Supernatural for five years, but at the 100th episode party, he was still as excited as a little kid. When I talked to him, Jensen fondly reminisced about five seasons and 100 episodes, looking back at the moment he first new the show was special (it happened a lot sooner than you might think), how he’s managed to cope with the long hours and his favorite prank on the set that involved the late Kim Manners. | ‘Supernatural’ actors see big picture |
In season five of “Supernatural,” brothers Sam and Dean Winchester face their destinies, as the devil and archangel Michael try to convince them that they have no choice but to become vessels for the mythic confrontation between good and evil. Actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles face a less world-changing fate, but there’s something about their paths to “Supernatural” that feels cosmically ordained — with a happy ending to boot. They’re both from Texas, have strong relationships with their own brothers and were already working for Warner Bros. when the lead roles on “Supernatural” came along. Prior to “Supernatural,” Ackles was best known for his roles in “Days of Our Lives,” “Dark Angel” and “Smallville,” while Padalecki was in “Gilmore Girls.” |

| Supernatural Season 5 Scoop! |
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke pulls out all the stops as the sexy horror show returns for its fifth season. In last season’s shocking finale, an angry and demon-blood addicted Sam (Jared Padalecki)—to his horror—was responsible for freeing Lucifer from his hellish imprisonment. In this exclusive interview, Kripke tells TV Guide Magazine what Lucifer’s return means and what roles Sam and big bro Dean (Jensen Ackles) will play in saving the world. That was a pretty terrifying finale. You have an interesting “pox on both their houses” take on the Apocalypse. Do you hear from angry religious types? Let’s talk about Season 5. Should I assume that the showdown between the angels and Lucifer and his demon minions—with Sam and Dean caught in the middle—is your through line this season? |

| Supernatural: Will Sam and Dean Save the World in Season Five? |
Sam’s a blood-sucking fiend, Lucifer walks the earth and all hell is literally breaking loose. That’s the situation the Winchester brothers (and their friend Bobby) will face when Supernatural returns to the CW for season five this fall. Can the world be saved, and more importantly, will the boys survive with their skins (and their relationship) intact? We just caught up with Jensen Ackles (that’s Dean himself, duh) at the Paley Center’s Sixth Annual Celebrity Golf Classic and got him to answer these very questions. Read on for the scoop on Sam and Dean’s role in the Apocalypse and the latest on those season-six rumors… Jensen tells us that he imagines the boys have a crucial, but not necessarily pivotal, role to play in the war between heaven and hell. (Think of Jim Beaver‘s Bobby and the Winchesters more as lieutenants and corporals than generals or field marshals.) |

| An interview with Jensen Ackles |
Technology, Dean and movies Stavrou: You started on Days of our Lives then went onto Dark Angel, Smallville and now Supernatural. How was the transition from daytime soap opera to prime time? Jensen Ackles: It’s been good. To be honest, with the soap opera’s daytime format, you really learn a lot very quickly. It’s almost like boot camp. Within the week you either know your lines, hit your mark, find your light or you just sink. So it’s kind of like tossing someone who doesn’t know how to swim into a pool and seeing if they’re going to survive. Sink or swim. I think that early on (I think I was 19 when I started on Days of our Lives) it taught me a lot about the technical aspects of acting. |

| JENSEN ACKLES Q&A |
I’ve discovered another interview of Jensen from this year’s Supernatural con in L.A. Enjoy. JENSEN ACKLES: We are done with season 4. I have one more scene to shoot tomorrow. But that doesn’t really count. It’s second unit stuff. I think it’s our best season. They kind of pulled out all of the stops with this one. With your support we’ve got another one coming. And it’s good to have a job these days. POP CULTURE ZOO: In making up your audition reel what film clips would you use? ACKLES: My entire three years on Days of Our Lives. I don’t know. There are a lot of scenes that are kind of close to me. Obviously the emotional ones are the ones I kind of remember…you put a lot of yourself into them. The scene where Sam is laying on the bed dead and I’m talking to him, telling him that I’m sorry and all that kind of stuff. Kim directed that episode and I remember going up to his office and saying, “I don’t know how many takes I can do. So what are your camera angles, how many shots are you seeing because I don’t know how much gas I’ll have to do this scene more then a couple of times.” And he adjusted his camera angles and closed off the set and kicked everybody out and allowed me to do my thing and it was kind of cool. |
