| TV Review: Sam, Interrupted |
|
A demon is feasting on mental patients and the Winchester brothers check themselves in. Something is feeding on crazies at a mental facility and the Winchester brothers go in to investigate on the latest episode of SUPERNATURAL, entitled “Sam, Interrupted.” Now, we did get a good bit of revelations about why Sam (Jared Padalecki) is just so damn angry all the time and he comes to the realization that it is his fault, he has been blaming everyone and everything for his own issues – the demon blood, Ruby, the apocalypse, name it. Instead, he should be blaming himself for having gotten himself into this situation and what’s happening everywhere. That came at the end and it is almost too bad that they didn’t focus on the mythology a bit more in the first episodes since November since while we didn’t forget, so much has happened it would be nice to see a little progression of the series.
But, most of the time the stand-alone episodes are pretty good. This was no exception, however, it wasn’t as funny as some of the other episodes or even close to as spooky or creepy. SUPERNATURAL has had some real creepy episodes before to the point that it gets under your skin like any great horror movie. While “Sam, Interrupted” didn’t do that, it still was enjoyable. Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) check themselves into a mental facility because a demon is killing the patients and absorbing their brains. When they get there, strange things begin to happen. Both of them have visions of people that aren’t there and it gets worse. They begin to be very fearful of just about everything in the case of Dean and extremely violent in the case of Sam. The demon finally reveals itself at the end (after a few good twists and turns) and Dean is able to fend it off and kill it before it can drain Sam, who had been tied to a gurney after his violent ways. Looks like next week are getting yet another stand-alone episode, but it looks pretty interesting as someone seems to posing as the Winchester brothers for some reason or another. I guess we will have to see what happens next week and maybe in February we’ll get a mythology-based episode. Source: ifmagazine.com |
