Paris Hilton plays demon in this very funny episode. First off, let me thank Abbie Bernstein for providing her little bit of magic last week to SUPERNATURAL reviewing as I was out of town. I was curious about how the creators were going to work in a killer Abraham Lincoln into the show after they revealed he would be one of the bad guys during Season Five at San Diego Comic Con. I should have known that it was going to be a demon inhabiting the image of Lincoln (and James Dean, Ghandi, and Paris Hilton) that would be the culprit. A series of bizarre murders has Dean (Jensen Ackles) call for backup in the form of his estranged brother, Sam (Jared Padelicki) – who was looking to get back with Dean because they’re brothers and have shared far too much for them not to be together fighting evil. After some investigation, they discover that not only had Lincoln killed someone, but James Dean as well.
It leads them to a wax museum where the effigies of the dead celebrities reside. But this is a special wax museum as it contains actual items the dead celebs (and current alive ones) used. Believing it to be a ghost of some sort, they burn the items but when Paris Hilton abducts a local teen, they realize it isn’t just a ghost job they are working but a demon of some sort. Back at the wax museum, they find Paris who is waiting for them and kicks their ass. But in the end, the brothers get the upper hand and cut off the demon’s head (or Paris’ head) ending its reign of terror. Now for Paris’ guest appearance, it was probably something that could have been done by any celebrity as she really didn’t bring much to the equation. Although it did give Dean a chance to berate HOUSE OF WAX (and this being a homage to the film it makes sense). While this was a very funny episode and out-of-the-mainstream from the Heaven versus Hell mythology Season Five has been running with (and during Season Four), it served a purpose other than to make us laugh and keep us entertained. It brought the Winchester Brothers back together after a two-week absence and gave them motivation to work together in a new partnership. But it came with some understanding between the two. The revelation that Sam turned to Ruby in Season Four and the demon blood because he was tired of having Dean hound him and treat him like the younger brother he is. Now, Sam was accepting of the fact that it was he that did the deed to open the gates of Hell and takes responsibility for it. But I think he wanted to explain why he went with Ruby to begin with and that his intention was never to open Hell but fight the demons on his own and prove he could do it as well or better than Dean. This was probably the first bonding and acceptance of the fact that both of the brothers were equally in the wrong when it came to Season Four’s events. It also provided them with what hopefully will be the beginning of some closure to those events and working toward defeating Lucifer and the angels and restoring a balance to the world. Even Sam said they just needed to kick ass and take down whatever was facing them. You gotta hand it to the creators of SUPERNATURAL as well. That damn preview to the season was one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. I had a hard time just counting the play-off of different genres and TV shows that we are going to get this season. There was the old guy Dean, there was the sitcom, the Japanese game show, CSI: MIAMI and much more. Can’t wait! Source: ifmagazine.com |

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Both brothers are not equally guilty. It’s true that neither knew the consequences of what they were doing. But while Dean may have broken the first seal, it was after 30 years of torture. Sam thought killing Lillith was a good thing (they all did), but he also spent a year drinking demon blood and there is no way around that being wrong. Sam saying he wanted to get away from Dean sounded like a good excuse to me. Dean is right to be watching Sam and he shouldn’t be making excuses for it. I love seeing Dean be the strong character that he is, so he needs to stop apologizing for it.
